A 50-year-old rickshaw-puller with coronavirus-like symptoms died at the isolation ward of Naria Upazila Health Complex in Shariatpur this morning.
"The man from Kedarpur village of Kedarpur union in the upazila was admitted at the isolation ward of the hospital with fever, cold, sore throat, and breathing problems last evening. He died around 7:30am today," Dr Md Safikul Islam, Naria upazila health and family planning officer, told The Daily Star.
"We had collected samples yesterday from the deceased and his family members to run coronavirus tests. The samples will be sent to the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b)," he said.
"The body will be buried by the Islamic Foundation as per guidelines set by the World Health Organisation (WHO)," the official added.
