State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Dr Enamur Rahman has said the government has taken a 50-year plan in a bid to make country earthquake-resistant one.
With the assistance of Japan, the government will implement the plan in three phases, he said.
The minister made the disclosure at an event titled ‘BSRF Dialogue’ organized by Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum at the secretariat in the capital on Thursday.
The state minister said, “Bangladesh is at probable risk of earthquake. We could not work a lot on it. But we held seminars and discussions regarding the awareness among the people and rescue works after quake. We have not yet taken steps in making country earthquake-tolerant.”
