The Holy Ramadan, the lunar month of self-purification through fasting and abstinence, will begin in the country from Wednesday (tomorrow) as the new moon was sighted in Bangladesh sky this evening.
The National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision it in a meeting presided over by State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan MP.
As per the decision of the meeting, the counting of the holy month of Ramadan will start from Wednesday (April 14) and Holy Shabe Kadar will be celebrated on Sunday night (May 9).
The meeting was held at eastern courtyard of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital this evening.
Other high officials and related persons concerned were present at the meeting.
