The authorities have raised this year's minimum amount of Fitra by 53 percent to Tk 115 per person.

The National Committee on Fitra on Sundauy set the donation rate at a meeting.

The maximum amount is Tk 2,640 per person this year, compared to Tk 2,310 last year.

The Fitra or Zakat-al-Fitr is a compulsory charity to be paid for by Muslims at the end of Ramadan.

As per Islamic ruling, the Fitra has been set based on the market prices of wheat, flour, barley raisin, dates and cheese.
