Tarique Rahman gifted the interim government’s Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus a pen and a copy of Greta Thunberg’s book “No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference” during their much-anticipated meeting in London on Friday.
The symbolic gesture came as the two held a closed-door meeting at the Dorchester Hotel, beginning at 2:00pm Bangladesh time.
Although no official statement detailed the discussion, political sources suggest that the current political situation in Bangladesh, the election timeline, governance reforms, and the proposed July Charter were key topics on the table.
Earlier, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told local journalists in London that the meeting had no fixed format, noting that as leader of one of the country’s largest political parties, Tarique Rahman’s meeting with the Chief Adviser was expected.
This was the first known in-person meeting between Yunus and the BNP’s acting chairman since the interim administration took over following the fall of the Awami League-led government in August 2024.
