Climate justice forum hosts national-Llevel pre-COP30 sharing & planning meeting in Dhaka

The Secretariat of the Climate Justice Forum, hosted by An Organization for Socio-Economic Development (AOSED), successfully organized the Pre-COP30 National Sharing and planning Meeting—an essential national consultation aimed at fostering inclusive dialogue and strategic collaboration in preparation for the upcoming 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the UNFCCC.

The meeting was presided over by Professor Dr. Hamidul Huq of United International University (UIU) and moderated by Mr. Shamim Arfeen, Executive Director of AOSED. It was held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Amazon Lily Lake View Residence, Banani, Dhaka.

In his presentation, Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal Poplu, President of Coastal Voice of Bangladesh, outlined the ongoing initiatives, mission, and vision of the Climate Justice Forum. He stressed the urgency of a unified national approach to ensuring climate justice, particularly for marginalized and climate-vulnerable communities across Bangladesh.

A major outcome of the meeting was the formation of a National Climate Justice Forum, designed to convene key stakeholders and amplify Bangladesh’s collective voice in global climate dialogues, especially at COP30.

The meeting was structured around the following key objectives:

To strengthen unified national strategies for equitable climate action;

To build consensus on core advocacy priorities ahead of COP30;

To ensure active participation and representation of grassroots and vulnerable communities in global climate negotiations.

The Meeting brought together a diverse and distinguished group of stakeholders from academia, civil society organization, journalist, human rights activist, and development organizations, all committed to advancing a just and inclusive national climate agenda.

Speaking at the meeting, participants emphasized:

“This was a critical opportunity to align our national climate justice narrative and prepare for meaningful, impactful engagement at COP30.”

The event marked a significant step toward building a coordinated national platform to address climate injustice and advocate for the rights of those most affected by the ongoing climate crisis in Bangladesh.

The Climate Justice Forum reaffirms its commitment to inclusive, transparent, and equity-centered climate governance, and will continue its advocacy to ensure the voices of the most affected are heard in both national and international arenas.
