In order to strengthen bilateral cooperation and develop of Bangladeshi businesses in China, Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCCI) has placed six-point recommendation including establishment of “Made in Bangladesh” garments outlets in China to the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
During the courtesy call-on meeting of the BCCCI delegation headed by its President Md Khorshed Alam with Yao Wen, ambassador of China to Bangladesh, these points were submitted on Monday.
Other points are-
> Educational and technological cooperation
> Encouraging Chinese private sector investment in Bangladesh
> Establishment of Chinese commercial bank in Bangladesh
> Set up a Joint Venture (JV) factory to produce power-saving permanent magnetic motors, which are urgently needed in Bangladesh to strengthen the power sector
> Investment in the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE)
Khorshed Alam said, “The friendship between Bangladesh and China has grown even stronger. Bangladesh has received valuable assistance from most friendly nation, China, which has contributed greatly to numerous development projects in Bangladesh— such as the Padma Bridge, road and communication infrastructure, mobile connectivity, and power projects.”
“We sincerely hope this cooperation will continue and strengthen further in the future. However, the quality of Bangladeshi garments is recognised worldwide. Many famous international brands are selling Bangladeshi products at high prices in the Chinese market. We want to directly supply world-class garment items to the Chinese people under the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ label,” he added.
He noted, “To achieve this, we seek your kind cooperation in establishing 20 ‘Made in Bangladesh’ garment outlet sales centres in major cities in China.”
BCCCI president highlighted that China plays a leading role globally in applying modern technology in various fields for the welfare of its people.
“We would like to transfer some of this advanced technology to Bangladeshi students through institutional cooperation.” He further said.
