The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has initially announced potential candidates for seven out of eight seats in Tangail. Fakir Mahbub Anam Swapan has been nominated for Tangail-1 Madhupur-Dhanbari constituency, Advocate Abdus Salam Pintu for Tangail-2 Gopalpur-Bhuapur, SM Obaidul Haque Nasir for Tangail-3 Ghatail constituency, Lutfar Rahman Khan Matin for Tangail-4 Kalihati constituency, Rabiul Awal Lavlu for Tangail-6 Nagarpur-Delduar constituency, and Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan for Tangail-8 Basail-Sakhipur constituency.

As per the central instructions, no joyous processions, processions, showdowns or even distribution of sweets took place in favor of the candidates in these nominated seats. However, no candidate's name has been announced in Tangail-5 (Sadar) seat.

Meanwhile, as part of their regular public relations campaign, supporters and well-wishers of Sultan Salahuddin Tuku held a huge procession in Tangail Sadar on Wednesday (November 5). According to eyewitnesses, about 200,000 supporters from 12 unions participated in the procession.

Meanwhile, after the announcement of the name of Lutfar Rahman Matin, who has been close to the Awami League for the last 15 years and has been inactive in the party and celebrated Sheikh Hasina's birthday by disrupting it, there has been a strong reaction among the party's grassroots leaders and activists. In protest of this nomination and demanding that Halim Engineer be nominated as a qualified candidate, BNP leaders and activists decided to block the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, but BNP nomination hopeful Engineer Abdul Halim Mia did not agree to it. Engineer Halim called for making constructive demands instead of following any agenda that causes suffering to the people. His role has created a stir throughout Tangail. The people of Tangail have highly appreciated such a decision of Engineer Abdul Halim Mia.

The oppressed and deprived leaders and activists of the Trinamool alleged that half a dozen leaders, hoping to be nominated by BNP in the upcoming national elections in Tangail-4 (Kalihati) constituency, have worked in the field. They have approached the people in their own way. Many have held meetings and public relations with BNP's 31 points. Engineer Abdul Halim Mia was the most prominent among the candidates. He is known as a clean leader with a clean image to the people of his constituency Kalihati.

The heroic freedom fighter Halim Mia has been the central vice-president of the Bangladem National Freedom Fighters Party for a long time. He has been very affectionate towards the leaders and activists involved in the implementation of the party's agenda for the last 17 years of the fascist Awami League. He has tried his best to keep the nationalist force united with all the leaders and activists on his own initiative.

Another hot candidate for this seat was Benazir Ahmed Titu, the joint organizing secretary of BNP's Dhaka division. But Kalihati threw out the real sacrificed and persecuted leaders and activists of BNP and formed various committees with people of his own choice. Many of the fallen Awami clan found a place in these committees. As a result, all the top leaders of Kalihati united against Titu and worked in the political field. In this situation, Benazir Ahmed Titu was practically alone. In addition, after August 5, all the Balu Mahals in Kalihati were allegedly taken over by Titu's supporters. In addition, Benazir's supporters were involved in various misdeeds including extortion in Kalihati. As a result, the BNP high command was unhappy with these incidents. Many believe that they were deprived of the party's nomination for these reasons.

Meanwhile, when the name of Lutfar Rahman Matin was announced as the BNP candidate for this seat, the Trinamul leaders and activists were shocked. The activists alleged that during the Awami League rule, the common people of Kalihati had no relationship with Matin for the past 17 years. He did not stand by any leader and activist of Kalihati in times of trouble. He has maintained good relations with the Awami League to keep his business organization free from danger. Lutfar Rahman Matin has celebrated Sheikh Hasina's birthday several times. He has spoken at various meetings with former Awami League minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui. He was in a state of voluntary retirement from politics.

The Trinamul BNP leaders and activists of Kalihati cannot accept the nomination of such a person by BNP. The leaders and activists now have only one demand and that is - Lutfar Rahman Matin's nomination should be withdrawn immediately and Engineer Halim should be nominated.
