Martyred President Ziaur Rahman played a role in the Liberation War, sovereignty, Bangladeshi nationalism and the establishment of multi-party democracy until his death. The party he founded, BNP, is now led by Tarique Rahman.
Like his father, he is a traveler on the path of a friend, facing conspiracies and security risks. He has already spent 59 years in torture, exile and struggle. Today, November 20, is Tarique Rahman's 60th birthday. Cordial greetings to the future leader, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
No pompous events or festivals, including cake cutting, posters, banners and festoons, and discussion meetings, will be held today on the occasion of the birthday of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has strongly urged leaders and activists of all BNP units across the country, including Dhaka, not to violate the aforementioned party directive.
Tarique Rahman is practically the supreme leader of BNP at this moment. Even though he is in exile, BNP is being run under his sole leadership. The work he is doing for the party is unbelievable. Tarique Rahman wants to bring about qualitative changes in the future politics of Bangladesh. Those who are honestly supporting him will be the closest to Tarique Rahman in the coming days.
The concerted efforts of those who have questioned the image of nationalist Sipahsala Tarique Rahman through false propaganda in the past will not succeed again. Tarique Rahman has requested people to refrain from trying to achieve their own goals in the future, calling it his "desire". He has clearly stated that on the occasion of his birthday, we must stand by the poor and helpless people and extend a helping hand to them.
Tarique Rahman, the pride of the young generation of the nation, the leader of the nationalist force, has dedicated this most beloved day to the party and the people of the country. In political history, Tarique Rahman has taken such a decision only for the country and the nation. BNP leaders and activists and people from all walks of life have applauded this generous decision of Tarique Rahman. Tarique Rahman's birthday is a day of full awakening of nationalist force. A day to express the enthusiasm of love. May Tarique Rahman's birthday be the dream of building a new Bangladesh.
No other politician in Bangladesh has been subjected to as much propaganda as Tarique Rahman. There has been no effort to end the attraction that people have for BNP since Tarique Rahman entered politics in the late 1990s.
While Begum Zia was allowed to participate in politics from home, the Awami League did not allow Tarique Rahman to participate in politics for even a single day. In other words, all arrangements were made to keep him away from politics for the rest of his life.
But by the infinite grace of God, Tarique Rahman is overcoming everything and moving forward. It was not easy for him to reach this stage today. This man, who went to London with a difficult physical condition, could not even lead a normal life for many years. Let alone enter political life.
Then, slowly, little by little, Tarique Rahman has maintained contact with workers in the most remote areas of Bangladesh. He has kept the leaders and workers united despite so much disappointment, hurt, and despair.
Now Tarique Rahman has become the leader of the entire country from BNP. Even people of the opposition are praising his politics. Everyone is saying the same thing, this Tarique Rahman, not that Tarique Rahman. This Tarique Rahman has matured a lot. Tarique Rahman will create history in Bangladesh if BNP can strengthen his hand.
For the past 17 years, Tarique Rahman has not been interviewed or reported in any media. He had confined himself in London with his wife and children. He would not meet anyone in London. But he would keep in touch with every unit of the BNP in the country. His words were not broadcast in the country's media. Due to the ban of the Awami League, even if any BNP worker shared his words, BTCL would block the ID.
He ran the party for 17 years sitting in a corner of a small room. Despite all his efforts, the Awami League could not create even a small rift in the BNP. Since the day Bangladesh was liberated with Hasina's escape, Tarek Zia has also come out into the open air.
Tareq Zia's BNP led all the protests during the 17-year rule of the autocratic Sheikh Hasina. The strike, blockade, movement, Dhaka Chalo program, the Indian government, Awami League, and the army all survived under Tareq Zia's leadership. This leadership will make Bangladesh a dignified and strong Bangladesh, Insha Allah.
