Eight more children have died with measles and the disease-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 628 since March 15.
Of the latest deaths, one was from confirmed measles while seven others died with symptoms, according to a report released by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday afternoon.
The DGHS data showed that between 8:00 am on Sunday and 8:00 am on Monday, 93 new confirmed measles cases were detected, while the number of suspected cases stood at 1,092.
Since March 15; a total of 92 children have died of confirmed measles and 536 others died with suspected symptoms. During this period, the total number of confirmed measles cases reached 9,779, while the number of suspected cases stood at 80,104.
A total of 65,237 patients were admitted to hospitals with suspected symptoms during the period, while 61,271 patients recovered and left hospitals, the report added.
