Lt Col Hasinur Rahman, a former commanding officer of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), returned home last night—over 16 months after he went missing.
His wife, Shamima Akhter, confirmed to The Daily Star that her husband returned to their home last night at 12am.
"We took him to our flat when the security guard of our building conveyed the news of his return to us," Shamima said.
Hasinur could not say anything about his whereabouts during the time that he had been missing, said Shamima.
Expressing relief over the return of her husband, Shamima said the family members are not pressing him with further questions, as his speech has become incoherent.
Hasinur—also an army lieutenant colonel—was sacked for his alleged connections to militants and was reportedly picked up by 14 to 15 law-enforcers in plainclothes around 10:30pm on August 8, 2018, when he was on his way home after meeting his friends.
Family members have denied allegations of Hasinur's connections with militants, saying that he was an honest and patriotic officer who became a victim of conspiracy.
