‘Evidence of raping enforced disappearance victim’s wife found’
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has found evidence against former Rapid Action Battalion official and additional superintendent of police Alep Uddin in raping the wife of a victim of enforced disappearance.
ICT Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam told this to the media on Thursday, saying the ex-RAB officer was also involved in torturing people, murders, and enforced disappearances.
“We have proof that Alep Uddin raped a woman, wife of an enforced disappearance victim, during the month of Ramadan by forcing her to break her fast,” Tajul said.
The chief prosecutor said Alep held many individuals captive for years after picking them up. He tortured them brutally by blindfolding, applying electric shocks and hanging them upside down, he added.
Recently, allegations have surfaced that the ex-RAB officer repeatedly raped the wife of an enforced disappearance victim threatening to kill her husband through crossfire. This awful issue has drawn widespread criticism.
