A 28-year-old man tested Covid-19 positive in Feni's Chagolnaiya upazila last night, making him the first confirmed coronavirus case in the district.

The man worked at a mobile company in the Mirpur area of Dhaka and returned to his village home on March 25, said Md Sazzad Hossain, civil surgeon of the district.

His samples were collected and sent to Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) in Chattogram on April 14 when he developed Covid-19 symptoms, the civil surgeon said.

He was found positive last night, added civil surgeon Sazzad.

Meanwhile, local administration locked down four houses of the locality where the patient has been living in isolation, said Mezbaul Haidar Chowdhury, chairman of the upazila.
