A Jashore court has sent journalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol, who remained missing for about three months, to jail in a case filed under Digital Security Act.

However, Senior Judicial Magistrate Manjurul Islam also granted him bail in trespassing case, said Kajol's lawyer Debashish Das.

"We are happy to get my father back alive. We will soon file bail plea," said his son Monorom Palak. 

Earlier in the day, Benapole Port Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Mamun Khan said, Kajol was detained by members of the Raghunathpur BGB camp on charges of illegal entry early today and handed over to the police station after filing a case on allegation of entering Bangladesh from India illegally. Later, police produced him before the court this afternoon.
 
Journalist Kajol went missing after leaving his office on March 10, a day after a ruling party lawmaker from Magura-1 filed a case against him and 31 others on charge of publishing a report with "false information".

A second case was filed against him under Digital Security Act on the same day he went missing.

Later, his wife Julia Ferdousi Nayan filed a general diary with Chawkbazar police station on the next day.

Later different journalists and human rights organisations staged protests, formed human chains demanding to know his whereabouts.
