The capital's Impulse Hospital will treat Covid-19 positive police personnel from next week.
Mir Sohel Rana, an assistant inspector general of police at the police headquarters, confirmed this to media.
"Following a request from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave the go-ahead for the hospital."
The hospital has initially been rented for two and a half months.
Only coronavirus infected policemen will get treatment at the 450-bed hospital from now on.
"The tireless efforts of IGP Dr Benazir Ahmed and support of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal have made it possible to rent and organise the hospital for the affected policemen in the shortest possible time," Sohel Rana said.
On May 5, Central Police Hospital and Impulse Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding.
The hospital will soon start giving treatment to the infected policemen. The infected policemen will get the highest attention and care here.
According to police headquarters, 1,429 policemen have been infected with Covid-19 so far. Among them, 708 belong to Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Up to now, six policemen have died from the disease while 98 have recovered.
