Fourteen more people died from coronavirus (COVID-19) in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours till Thursday, according to the statistics of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With this, the death toll due to the deadly virus infection reached at 283, Additional Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana said.
Besides, 1041 more people tested positive for COVID-19 during the same period, raising the number of such cases in the country to 18,863, she added.
Prof Dr Nasima came up with the disclosure in the daily online news bulletin at the Management Information System (MIS) in the afternoon.
Among the fourteen deceased, eleven were male and the rest three were female, she added.
Some 7,837 samples were collected in the last 24 hours and 7,392 samples were tested in 41 labs across the country, Dr Sultana added.
Some 3,031 people newly quarantined, and 2,298 completed their quarantine course in the last 24 hours.
A total of 184,659 people have completed their quarantine course.
On Wednesday, the country reported the highest single-day 19 deaths from the highly infectious disease and 1,162 more positive cases.
Coronavirus, first reported in China, has so far infected 4,444,267 people globally and killed 298,401 of them, according to worldometer.info, a website that provides real-time updates.
Of the infected, 2,477,328 are currently being treated while 45,918 of them are in serious or critical condition, the website data shows.
As the virus began sweeping across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
