Public transports including bus, railway and waterways services will start their operation from May 31 while half of the seats at each transport will have to be kept vacant.

The law enforcement agencies will strictly oversee if the directives of the government are maintained, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Railway Md Shamsuzzaman said today.

Even, each transport has to maintain the health issues of the passengers. No transport will be allowed to operate if it violates any instruction. 

Every transport must have an arrangement of hand sanitisers at its gate and the passengers must wear masks while boarding a bus, train or launch.

Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said that they will issue a guideline to the launch owners to ensure the maintenance of health issues of the passengers.

"The launch owners must consider profit in this crucial moment. They must decrease the number of passengers to half," he added.
