Ten leather-sector companies registered with Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation are expected to participate in World Expo 2020 to be held in Dubai on October 20, officials said.
The Ministry of Industries has already given its consent in this regard.
The companies will display their leather and leather goods such as bag, belt, laptop bag, shoe, jacket and hand bag at the international event.
They have said adequate preparations are being taken to participate in Expo 2020 for showcasing existing and potential trade, business and innovations.
The commerce ministry officials said since Bangladesh took a decision to participate in Dubai Expo, different organisers talked with government officials and gave them guidelines about participation in the exposition.
Different government and private agencies will take part in the upcoming Dubai event.
Some 192 countries are likely to take part in World Expo 2020 with the objectives to create a better world through innovation, partnership, engagement and impact.
The six-month long expo will continue till April 28 next year, with organisers expecting an estimated 25 million visitors.
Apart from Export Promotion Bureau, BGMEA, BKMEA, Bangladesh Tourism Board and youth entrepreneurs will take part in the expo with their innovative ideas, a source concerned said.
