An experimental locomotive on Tuesday started running on the newly-built railway line in Chilahati aimed at reviving the rail link between Chilahati, Bangladesh and Haldibari, West Bengal in India.
The locomotive left Chilahati station at 12 noon and returned by 2pm touching No-Man’s land.
A simple function was held at the station on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Md Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury, 56 BGB Commander Mamunul Haque, Railway Officer Ananda Mohan Chakrabarty, Engineer Al Fatah Mohammod Masudur Rahman and Project Director Abdur Rahim were present at the function.
The rail link between Chilahati and Haldibari will be re-established on 16 December.
