The government has directed the divisional and deputy commissioners across the country to beef up security of the land and other important offices.
In the wake of vandalism of the land offices and other public properties by Hefazat-e Islam leaders and activists and their sympathisers in some places, the land ministry asked for preventive measures.
A letter was sent to all divisional and deputy commissioners on Monday stating that the land offices in Hathazari of Chattogram and Brahmanbaria were seriously damaged as part of sabotage committed by the quarter.
The ministry also called for entrusting an assistant commissioner (land) with preparing authentic land records in every union parishads which are affected by the attack.
Divisional and deputy commissioners will have to ensure creation of new deeds and land records within seven working days.
