Bangladesh on Sunday recorded the highest number of Covid-19 deaths since the pandemic made landfall in the country in March last year.
The death toll climbed to 10,385 after fresh 102 fatalities were registered in the 24 hours to 8:00 am Sunday, according to a handout released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The country has recorded 3,698 new cases of the coronavirus, taking the tally to 718,950.
The handout said the daily infection rate fell to 19.06 percent from Saturday’s 21.46 percent.
A total of 19,404 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in 257 labs across the country.
Meanwhile, 6,121 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with an 85.53% recovery rate.
To stop the transmission of the virus, the government imposed a ‘strict’ lockdown for seven days from April 14.
