Bangladesh on Monday recorded the highest number of Covid-19 deaths since the pandemic made landfall in the country in March last year.
The death toll climbed to 10,497 after fresh 112 fatalities were registered in the 24 hours to 8:00am Monday, according to a handout released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The country has recorded 4,271 new cases of the coronavirus, taking the tally to 723,221.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March that year.
Worldwide, 142,064,856 cases have been recorded so far and 3,034,404 people have died of Covid-19 to date.
