The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has extended the deadline till December 14 to let customers purchase motorcycles who do not have a driving licence.
Previously, they had instructed the vehicle registering authority to ensure that the registrant had obtained a driving license before purchasing a motorcycle. The rule was scheduled to be implemented from September 15, 2022.
In a fresh circular the BRTA said that the Bangladesh Motorcycle Assemblers & Manufacturers Association (BMAMA), an association of motorcycle companies in Bangladesh has requested the BRTA to extend the deadline and allow the purchasers with learners’ licences to get the opportunity till then.
Md Nurul Islam, Deputy Director (Engineering-1) confirmed the development to media.
