The eight-year-old girl from Magura, who was undergoing treatment following a brutal assault, died at Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Thursday at 1:00pm.
The verified Facebook page of the Bangladesh Army announced the heartbreaking news. The Army also expressed deep condolences over the incident.
The post stated, "With a profoundly heavy heart, we inform that the tortured child from Magura passed away today (13 March 2025) at 1:00 pm at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka. (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un)."
Despite utilizing the most advanced medical facilities at CMH and the relentless efforts of expert doctors, the child's life could not be saved. The child suffered three cardiac arrests in the morning; although stability was regained twice, the heartbeat could not be revived the third time.
Notably, the girl was admitted to Dhaka CMH in critical condition on 8 March.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has also expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He has instructed authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly.
