Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Sunday expressed hope that the Bangladesh Army would remain committed to carrying out its duties with professionalism and dedication to ensure the country’s sovereignty and security.
The chief adviser also lauded the army’s professionalism and contributions and provided the necessary guidance for its future operations when Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman paid a courtesy call on him at the state guesthouse Jamuna in Dhaka.
During the meeting, the army chief briefed the chief adviser on the measures undertaken by the army to ensure overall security during the forthcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, read a media release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
General Waker-Uz-Zaman highlighted the army’s role in maintaining smooth operations at launch terminals, train stations, and bus stands as well as ensuring uninterrupted vehicular movement on all major roads.
Moreover, he discussed mediation efforts between industrial owners and workers to maintain harmony in the labour sector.
Waker also informed Yunus about the army's ongoing initiatives, including organising Iftar and prayer gatherings at all cantonments in honour of those injured in the July uprising.
Furthermore, he outlined financial assistance programmes initiated by the Bangladesh Army for wounded fighters and the families of martyrs.
The army chief extended advance Eid greetings to the chief adviser at the conclusion of the meeting.
