The government has sent 18 judicial service members into forced retirement in the public interest under Section 54 of the Government Service Act, 2018.

The law ministry published a notification in this regard in line with the directive of the president on Thursday.

The 25 members of the Bangladesh Judicial Service, who completed 25 years of service, have been sent into retirement from their services in the public interest, said the notification.

The decision was taken following the provisions of Section 45 of the Government Services Act, 2018, in consultation with the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, it added.

They will be entitled to get all retirement benefits as per the government rules.

The order, issued in the public interest, will come into effect immediately.
