The High Court (HC) has issued a rule asking the government to explain why the directives should not be given to provide Tk 5 crore as compensation to the family members of each deceased and Tk 1 crore to the family members of the injured survivors of the Uttara plane crash.

The HC bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Sayed Jahed Mansur passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed over the tragic plane crash incident at Milestone School and College on Monday.

At the same time, the HC bench also asked the authorities concerned to submit a report within 45 days in this regard.

The court also ordered the government to take measures to send the seriously injured victims, including students and their guardians, abroad if necessary for better treatment.

Apart from these, the HC bench asked authorities of all educational institutions to include mobile numbers in ID cards of all their students with their blood group.

It has also ordered the government to form a specialised committee within the next seven days to investigate the dreadful crash of a fighter plane.

It also issued another rule asking the government to explain why directives should not be given to stop flying of faulty aircraft or training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force in crowded areas across the country, including the capital, Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the catastrophic crash has risen to 31, while 165 individuals, including students of the educational institution, are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka.

Earlier, the plane took off from BAF Base Bir Uttom AK Khandker at 1:06 pm on Monday and crashed shortly after due to a technical glitch, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
