At least 198 people were killed in the capital over the past 10 months, resulting in an average monthly death toll of 20, said the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday.
DMP Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman said the high death toll still paints a stable law and order scenario when compared with the crime figures of the past 10 years.
Most of the murders over the past 10 months were results of family dispute, old enmity, and turf wars, he said, adding that unidentified newborns were also among the dead.
Over the past eight days, at least three people have been killed in the capital.
