Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed on Tuesday said political tensions with India would not have any impact on bilateral economy and trade.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting of the Advisers’ Council Committee on Public Procurement at the Secretariat, he said India had not taken a good decision by dropping Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL, describing the issue as an emotional one.
“In response to that action, Bangladesh stopped the IPL broadcast. It was the right decision for Bangladesh. India later also realised that it had made a wrong decision,” he said.
The finance adviser expressed hope that the issue would end there and would not be allowed to escalate further.
“This will not have any impact on the political relations between the two countries,” he said.
Dr Salehuddin further said the decisions taken by both sides would not affect the economies of the two countries.
“There will be no obstacles to importing goods from India. The political tension between India and Bangladesh will not affect the country’s economy and trade,” he added.
