Australia and Bangladesh have reiterated their shared commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Indian Ocean region, highlighting their growing bilateral defence cooperation.

The discussion took place during a recent meeting between the Australian High Commission and Bangladesh’s Chief of Army Staff General Waker-uz-Zaman.

The two sides reviewed existing areas of cooperation and explored opportunities to further strengthen collaboration between their defence forces.

They also discussed prospects for engagement with Bangladesh’s expanding defence industry, reflecting the deepening strategic partnership between the two countries.

Both sides emphasised the importance of working together to promote regional security, stability and mutual interests in the Indian Ocean region.
