The government will build three key facilities for the police force on 20 acres of land in Dhaka and Gazipur, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The facilities include a logistics base and a dumping ground for the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and an in-service training center with a firing butt.

The logistics base has been proposed to be constructed on five acres of land from several daags (plots) at JL no. 13 under Kayetpara Mouja in Demra, Dhaka, as per the ministry’s Police Wing, while a dumping ground has been proposed to be built on 10 acres of land at the same mouja.

The in-service training centre has been planned to be made on five acres of land at Janer Chala Mouja at Kaliakoir in Gazipur.

The home ministry will hold a review meeting on the proposed land acquisition at the ministry around 2:30pm on Thursday (16 April), said an office notice signed by Deputy Secretary (Police Wing-5) of the ministry Nasrin Sultana.

Convener of the land allocation committee and joint secretary (Police Wing-2) of the ministry will chair the meeting.

The representatives of the Police Headquarters, Dhaka and Gazipur Deputy Commissioners’ (DCs) offices will be present at the meeting. The representatives of the DC offices will present the information of the land proposed to be acquired in the meeting.

The meeting will review the proposals in terms of necessity, feasibility and administrative considerations before making further decisions.

Once the facilities are built, a significant enhance is expected in the operational, training, logistical and dumping capabilities of the police force, said sources in the ministry.
