The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved a project with an estimated cost of Taka 7.32 billion to supply emergency water in Dhaka city.
The approval came from the 21st ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal year held at the NEC Conference Room in the city’s Sher-E-Bangla Nagar area on Tuesday with ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) will implement the project by December 2023.
Once the project is implemented, it will be possible to supply an additional 447 MLD water to meet the growing demand in Dhaka metropolis benefitting around 16.0 million people directly or indirectly.
