Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Wednesday said industrial units under the Industries Ministry are being modernised to make those profitable.

Industries Ministry has gained new momentum to expand employment opportunities through the creation of new entrepreneurs,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on the professional life of the outgoing Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim at the Industries Ministry conference room in the city.

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder attended the discussion as the special guest while new Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam presided over.

Kamal Mojumder said the government has taken various initiatives to make the mills under the Industries Ministry profitable. “As a result of these initiatives, non-profit factories are gradually reducing the amount of losses and becoming profitable,” he added.

He mentioned that the government is working sincerely to make the existing factories profitable as well as to reopen the closed factories.
