Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday said around 40,000 people would be appointed at the government hospitals across the country to reduce manpower crisis at the third and fourth grade categories.
"The present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been providing healthcare facilities at the grassroots despite having limited resources. Around 8,000 doctors and 10,000 nurses have been appointed in last few years," he told a function at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital.
Third and Fourth grade Employees Parishad organized the function as they give a reception to the new and old committee members.
Bangladesh Medical Association President Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Secretary General Ihteshamul Haque Chowdhury and Directorate General of Health Services Director General Dr Abul Kalam Azad, among others, addressed the function.
Nasim said around five thousand more doctors would be appointed soon. They will have to render services at village level for at least three years.
