A Korean company has shown interest to import plywood and dried veneer from Bangladesh, officials said.

Primarily, the company wants to import dried veneer, they added.

The company named Yumok Co. Ltd has recently conveyed its interest to the Bangladesh mission in Seoul.

It has also sought competitive quotation from interested Bangladeshi companies to import the products.

The mission has requested the commerce ministry to facilitate arranging quotation soon from Bangladeshi export companies.

A high official of the commerce ministry said, "We have just received a letter on importing plywood and dried veneer by a Korean company that was sent by the Bangladesh mission in Seoul. We have yet to start work in this regard."

Currently, more or less 25 companies produce plywood in the country, according a source concerned.
