Wahida Khanam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Ghoraghat in Dinajpur, and her father Omar Ali sustained injuries in an attack by some unidentified miscreants early Thursday.

Amirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ghoraghat Police Station, confirmed the matter to media.

The miscreants entered in the UNO's official Bungalow in Ghoraghat when they were in sleep and hacked them with sharp weapons at 2:00am, leaving them injured, he said.

Later, the injured were rushed to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

She is being taken to Dhaka by an air ambulance. She will be admitted to National Neuroscience Hospital in the capital.

Meanwhile, Dinajpur-6 MP Shibli Sadiq, Deputy Commissioner Mahmudul Alam and Superintendent of Police Anwar Hossain visited the spot, the OC said.

The real cause of the attact could not be known yet.
