A youth introducing to be cadre of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has been arrested for carrying out bomb attack in the capital, purporting to foil Dhaka 18 by-polls.

Md Sohel Mia, 26, son of Mohammad Gias Uddin hailing from Gafargaon of Mymensingh, was caught red-handed on Thursday.

He admitted to have engaged himself in commission of cocktail attack in the electoral area at the behest of BNP activist.

“For last two days, BNP activist Sumon has been insisting on my carrying out cocktail attack at polling centre. I took Tk 200 advance for the job. As per our plan hatched at Khamarpara at 12:30pm, I hurled cocktail at the vote centre. Police held me at the time of fleeing the spot.”
