An assistant sub-inspector of Dhaka Metropolitan Police was shot by a drug dealer near Rayerbazar Police Fari in the city on Thursday morning.

Ujjal Hossain Khan, an ASI of Rayerbazar Police Fari, was admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.

The incident took place at 9.30am while he was in a drive to arrest a drug dealer near the Fari.

However, the law enforcers arrested the criminal with a revolver and 200 pieces of Yaba pills.

The arrestee was identified as Ibrahim Chowdhury, son of late Yakub Chowdhury, hailing from Brahmanbaria.
