Ruling Awami League mayoral candidates have become victorious in most of the municipalities in the third phase polls.

Starting at 8 am, the voting to 62 municipalities across the country ended in 4 pm on Saturday.

Awami League mayoral candidate Nazrul Islam Swapan Miazi has become victorious in Feni, the party’s candidate Md Rafiqul Islam in Borhanuddin of Bhola, Zakir Hossain in Daulatkhan of the district, Awami League rebel candidate AGM Badshah in Dhanut of Bogura and BNP candidate Abdul Mannan in Kahalu of the district.

The ruling party’s woman mayoral candidate and late mayor Md Shahdat Hossain Suman’s wife Salma Akhter Shimul has won the elections to Mirzapur municipality of Tangail for the second time.

Awami League mayoral candidate and freedom fighter Masudul Haque became victorious in the elections to Tangail’s Bhuapur municipality defeating BNP nominated candidate Jahangir Hossain.

Awami League’s rebel candidate Abdul Ahad won the elections to Zakiganj municipality in Sylhet.

Independent mayoral candidate Mukitur Rahman Rafi saw victory in the elections to Gobindaganj municipality of Gaibandha and independent candidate Khaled Saifullah to Chowmuhani municipality of Noakhali.
