As many as 58 more people have died from the coronavirus in the country while 5,683 others tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours.
With the latest figure, the death toll from the pandemic has risen to 9,213 while the tally of infections has surged to 630,277, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a press release on Saturday.
Of the 58 deceased – 38 men and 20 women – 39 were from Dhaka division, 12 from Chittagong, three from Khulna, and two from and one each from Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions.
All the victims died while undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the country.
Meanwhile, 24,548 samples were tested in 227 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 47,52,661 samples have been tested in the country so far.
Also, 2,364 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 549,775 with an 87.23% recovery rate.
The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 87.23 percent recovered, while 1.46 percent died.
