The students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Wednesday blocked the Dhaka-Aricha Highway, demanding reformation to the existing quota system of the public service recruitment.
Around 1000 students of the university participated the anti-quota demonstration at 10:30am.
They wanted immediate reform of the quota systems and reduce from 56% to 10 %.
They also demanded apology from Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury for her remarks on the protesters on Monday.
The movement calling for reform to the quota system had started in mid February.
But it received a major boost, spreading nationwide majorly, after violent tripartite clashes between police, Bangladesh Chhatra League and the demonstrators in Dhaka University (DU) campus between Sunday evening and early Monday.
