Bangladesh confirmed 78 more Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 11,228, according to a handout released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday afternoon.

The country has recorded 3,031 new cases of the coronavirus, raising the total to 751,659.

Bangladesh tested 24,237 samples in 358 labs across the country in the last 24 hours, while the number was 25,786 on Monday.

Among the latest day's victims, 45 were men, and 33 were women. Of them, 76 died in different hospitals across the country while two died at home. 

The daily infection rate slipped to 12:51 percent from Monday’s 12.82 percent while the mortality rate remained static at 1.49 percent.

The number of recoveries now stands at 666,927 including 5,234 new cases which indicates, 88.73 percent of the patients have recovered.
