Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday said that the government might publish the name, address and identity of the bank loan defaulters periodically in the media.

He said this while responding to a supplementary question from independent lawmaker Rustam Ali Farazi in the parliament.

Finance Minister said that he had given list of the loan defaulters several times in the parliament. “For this the members of the parliament helped me, they wanted to see the list, I gave the lists several times,” he said.

But he mentioned that he never thought to publish the names and address of the loan defaulters in the newspapers.

“I did not think the matter till now, but surely that can be done, I think this proposal is eligible for consideration,” he said.

Muhith said that in future this can be considered. “Their names can be published periodically,” he said.

Finance Minister said that the loan defaulters have done massive loss for the nation. “They have gobbled up the money that could be invested otherwise,” he said.
