A nine-year-old child died of Coronavirus or Covid-19 at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital on Saturday.

The child was undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital, said deputy director of the hospital Dr Saiful Ferdous.

The deceased is identified as Tawhid (9), son of Humayun Kabir of Malda Colony, in Rajshahi city.

Family members confirmed that the baby died of Covid-19.

Dr Saiful Ferdous said the child was tested on April 26 when he had coronavirus symptoms. His report came positive on that day. The following day the baby was admitted to the corona ward of the hospital.

He also said the child was shifted to the ICU Wednesday as his condition worsened. He died at 10:30 am on Thursday while undergoing treatment there.

The child had kidney problems, Dr Saiful added.
