Bangladesh will receive 30 lakh more doses of Sinopharm vaccine against Covid-19 from China on Thursday night.
Maidul Islam Prodhan, public relations officer of the health ministry, confirmed the matter on Thursday.
Different flights carrying Sinopharm vaccine doses will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:00 pm, 1:00 am and 3:00 am respectively.
The country got 40 lakh Sinopharm vaccine doses from China in two phases on July 16 and 18.
Also, Bangladesh received another 20 lakh vaccine doses on July 2 as per the agrrement.
Mentionable, the government purchased 1.5 crore doses of vaccine from Sinopharm, which is expected to arrive in Bangladesh within next three months.
So far, the country has received 2,12,45,000 doses from four vaccine makers of various countries. Of these, 1,05,45,000 were Oxford-AstraZeneca, 55 lakh Moderna, 51 lakh Sinopharm and 1 lakh Pfizer vaccines.
On July 25, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said 21 crore doses of vaccine had already been arranged from different sources. If these are available on time, Bangladesh will be able to vaccinate 80 per cent of its population.
The minister also said 26 cold freezers were being brought from the World Health Organization (WHO) for vaccines that need to be stored in minus 70 degrees Celsius.
