Jatiya Party Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu has passed away while undergoing treatment at a city hospital in the capital.

He breathed his last at 9:12 am on Saturday at ICU of Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Shyamoli, Jatiya Party chairman's deputy press secretary Khandaker Deloar Jalali.

He was admitted to Labaid Specialised Hospital in Dhanmondi area on September 6 and tested positive coronavirus. Later, he was shifted to the Bangladesh Specialised Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Party sources said Bablu fell ill after taking part in electioneering in favour of the Jatiya Party candidate in Sylhet-3 by-election held on September 4.
