Md Mahbubur Rahman, additional secretary to the government, has joined the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) as a new chairman on Tuesday.

Earlier on December 1, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification appointing Mahabubur as the new BSCIC chief.

Mahbubur will replace Md Mostaque Hasan, who was relieved from the post on November 29.

Prior to joining BSCIC, Mahabubur was the director of Government Employee Hospital, secretary of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission and the deputy commissioner of Magura, among various other capacities.

He also held various posts at the field level, including Upazila Nirbahi Officer.

Mahabubur started his career as an officer from the 11th batch of BCS (Administration) cadre.

He completed his honours and masters from the Department of Geography of Dhaka University.
