The High Court on Monday issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why it shall not pass the order to include proclamation of independence in the textbooks of all educational institutions.
A High Court bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order, also asking to form an expert committee in this regard.
"The committee has to file its report before the court within 90 days," writ petitioner Advocate Uttom Lahiri said.
Advocate Nahid Sultana Juthi moved the writ before the court, while Advocate Shakila Rowshon, Advocate Shagufta Tabassum Ahmed and Advocate ABM Shahjahan Akand Masum assisted her. Deputy Attorney General Bipul Baghmar stood for the state.
Advocate Uttom Lahiri filed the writ on December 2, pleading for the court's direction in this regard.
