Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said all public events to celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year 1429, must end by 2:00pm on April 14 and no one will be allowed to enter Ramna Batamul wearing traditional masks.

He made the remarks while assessing security arrangement for the Bangla New Year celebration at Ramna Batamul on Tuesday noon.

In addition, everyone will be allowed to join at Mangal Shobhajatra, a traditional procession, after checking.

The celebration points including Ramna Batamul and Dhaka University campus are set to be under CCTV camera surveillance, he said.

Mentioning that no vehicles will play in the areas, he said everyone has to go through checkpoints at the entrances of Ramna Batamul.
