Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Md Siddiqur Rahman on Saturday said seven out of world's top ten green factories are situated in Bangladesh.
The BGMEA leader made the revelation at a function to give award to ten such factories at Krishibid Institute in the capital yesterday.
State Minister for Labour and Employment Md. Mujibul Haque handed over the awards at the function, organized jointly by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, International Labour Organization (ILO), UK Aid, Canada and the Netherlands.
Speaking on the occasion, the state minister urged factory owners to come forward in ensuring occupational health of the laborers in all the workplaces across the country.
Presided over by Labour and Employment Ministry Secretary Afroza Khan, the function was also addressed by Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) Chairman AKM Salim Osman, MP, Bangladesh Employers' Foundation President Kamran T Rahman and Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Inspector General Md. Shamsuzzaman Bhuiyan, among others.
